Anni’s Army Foundation Honors Annika Meier’s Legacy Through Inaugural Scholarship
Rockford, Michigan - May 2026 - Anni’s Army Foundation honored the life and legacy of Annika “Anni” Meier during Rockford High School’s Honors Convocation on Monday, May 11 by presenting the inaugural Annika Meier Honorary Scholarships.
Created through a partnership between Anni’s Army Foundation and the Rockford Education Foundation, the scholarship recognizes Rockford High School seniors who have faced significant challenges and who demonstrate resilience, compassion, kindness, and a commitment to caring for others — qualities that reflected Anni’s life so beautifully.
The presentation came just days after Anni gained her angel wings following an almost five-year battle with pediatric brain cancer.
“While we are grieving her loss, we are also celebrating her life and legacy through this scholarship,” Mark and Lynn Meier shared during the ceremony. “Our hope is that this scholarship helps students feel seen — what they have gone through matters, and the way they care for others through it matters too.”
The inaugural recipients of the Annika Meier Honorary Scholarship are Rockford High School seniors Averill Timmer and Lyla Szabo. Each student received a $1,500 scholarship along with a special donut blanket in honor of Anni, whose beloved blankets became a symbol of comfort, warmth, and her bright spirit throughout her journey.
The Annika Meier Honorary Scholarship will continue annually through Anni’s Army Foundation, ensuring Anni’s legacy lives on through students who lead with empathy, resilience, and heart.
