What We Do

Rockford Instrument Fund

Rockford Instrument Fund

The transformative power of music is undeniable. Music has the power to connect, to communicate, to enrich, to humanize, to transport, to transcend barriers, and to promote healing, peace, and community. Access to music education is the goal of the Rockford Instrument Fund.

The Rockford Instrument Fund is a promise that all students interested in orchestra or band at Rockford Public Schools will have the opportunity to participate.

Students who demonstrate financial need* can apply for a Rockford Instrument Fund instrument rental voucher to offset the cost of a musical instrument.

* To receive a Rockford Instrument Fund voucher, financial need is determined by qualifying for the Free and Reduced Lunch program. Eligible students will receive funding from the Rockford Education Foundation to cover 50% of their annual instrument costs. To be considered, students must have applied for free and reduced lunch through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) in the Rockford Public Schools for the previous school year.
