Dr. Matthews Sub for a Day Fundraiser
Through our Dr. Matthews Sub for a Day fundraiser in 2026, community members had the chance to nominate a teacher to win a well-deserved day off—with RPS Superintendent Dr. Steve Matthews stepping in as the substitute teacher.
Each month, January 2026 - May 2026, Dr. Matthews headed into a different classroom, giving teachers a break while connecting with students in a whole new way. The fundraiser was a fun way to celebrate Rockford educators, involve the community, and raise funds that support educational opportunities for students across the district.
Thank you to everyone who participated and helped create a big impact for Rockford students and educators! This fundraiser will resume in 2027.
